Christopher Ford
In memoriam

Christopher Ford was a founding partner in Dynamaps Corporation. He held a B.Sc. in Biopsychology, post-graduate diplomas in Investment Analysis and Commerce, and sat on the Police Advisory Committee for Sidney, B.C. In the first year of business, Dynamaps software reduced vehicle crime in Victoria by 70%. Christopher's vision for safer communities led to a federal contract to analyse how mapping can benefit policing across Canada.

In 2003, however, Chris was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He underwent a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy over a one year period and then was fortunate to have nearly a year in remission and he was finally given the nod by his doctor to travel. After returning from a vacation in Italy, the leukemia had returned in an even more agressive form which did not respond to treatment.

Christopher passed away at home Monday September 12, 2005 with his wife, Michelle, his parents and his brothers at his side.

Chris was not expected to survive the first night and had tough odds of surviving the treatments, but he said 'I'll take the odds'. His humour and inner strength prevailed until the last week. He said that he would undergo bone marrow transplants and chemotherapy every two years if that is what it would take to live.

Chris was a good friend, neighbour and business partner. We will miss him of course, but he is no longer suffering and we take comfort in that.
